EASTER Entertaining

So it’s Easter and you’ve got friends coming around. Or the family is coming over for Sunday lunch and you want to help with the food. (Or it’s school holidays and you want to do something ‘extra’ for lunch). Either way, a snack board is the perfect solution. What’s more, the ability to throw together an amazing charcuterie platter (a fancy word for snack board), will be a skill that will carry you through life (just ask your Mum, Aunty, lady down the street, woman at Coles etc – they’ll all agree.

For an Easter board, why not use some of these beautiful ideas as inspiration and keep in mind these three ‘platter rules’;

  1.  Balance. With every board you put together, make sure you have balance. Include some sweet and savoury items and healthy and treat options. Also balance colours, sizes and amounts. This will not only make the board look great, but ensure your guests have plenty of options.

  2. Layout. Start by placing the biggest items on the board. This could be a wheel of cheese, a bowl of lollies or a jar of chocolate sauce. Then build out in sections from there with medium sized items such as salami, crackers, fruit skewers and carrot sticks. Finally fill in with the smallest items like cubes of cheese and berries.

  3. Finishing Touches. Don’t forget to add napkins, cheese knives, sprigs of fresh herbs or in the case of our Easter board – some brightly wrapped eggs or marshmallow bunnies to set the theme.

Finally, if you can dream it, it can go on a platter. Far from just cheese, dip and salami, think of dessert platters, lolly platters, s’mores platters, pancake and breakfast platters. The list is endless and your family and friends will be soooo impressed.
