What to Watch This School Holidays
It’s time for our quarterly roundup, where we cover all the best things to watch this school holidays! So sit down and buckle up, you’re in for an adventure-filled ride!
NETFLIX
Trivia Quest
This one looks super fun; an interactive quiz show of 25 questions per episode. Get the questions right, defeat the bad guys and move onto the next level. The questions will cover a range of categories, from pop culture to science and more, and will be shared on screen in a multiple-choice format. Its animated style is very engaging and the questions are perfect for tweens and teens (and it looks really educational – shhhh!)
HOP
An oldie but a goodie, this perennial Easter favourite has been on Netflix for sometime, but nothing marks the start of Easter celebrations like an annual movie viewing of HOP. Follow along as the Easter Bunny’s teenage son heads to Hollywood to become a drummer in a rock’n’roll band – rejecting his place as the next official Easter Bunny. It’s got laughs, music and a sweet storyline, and stars James Marsden, Russell Brand and Kaley Cuoco, there is even a cameo by David Hasselhoff.
ALSO: The Blind Side (2009), Shrek Forever After (2010)
DISNEY +
Turning Red
This brand new animated coming-of-age fantasy comedy tale out of Disney and Pixar introduces Meilin “Mei” Lee (Rosalie Chiang), a confident, proudly dorky 13-year-old Chinese-Canadian girl who is torn between staying her mother’s dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence. Her protective, if not slightly overbearing mother, Ming (Sandra Oh), is rarely far from Mei, an unfortunate reality for the teenager (and any teen, really). And as if changes to her interests, relationships, and body weren’t enough, all of a sudden (thanks to an inherited family quirk) whenever she feels any strong emotion, she “poofs” up into a giant red panda, which, as you can imagine, is a bit of a recipe for trouble, hijinx, and hilarity.
