Secret Food Tour of Singapore
If there are two things we love here at the Franc office, they are food and travel. Or is that travel and food? Either way, a food tour of some exotic destination is like all our Christmases at once. Enter the Secret Food Tour of Singapore.
Oh. My.
Held in Singapore’s famed Chinatown, the walking tour is fun, full of history and of course, amazing food. What we loved most about it was that we wouldn’t have been brave enough to try a lot of the dishes ourselves (or known what to ask for!) so this tour was such a great way to get the true vibe of the area – and we discovered some absolute new favourite dishes along the way!
First, we went to a small shop to try Singapore's most famous dish: bak kwa, a salty-sweet dried pork. It was so amazing we went back the next day just to buy more.
We then tried a curry puff from a chain of shops called Old Chang Kee. Not the sort of place we would choose to line up at, but this was one of the examples of what makes the tour so good – it was the curry puff of our dreams. True to form, we went back the next day for more of these as well.
We then went on to visit a traditional coffee house, the Hawker centre and the beautiful Buddha Tooth Relic Temple – google it, it’s stunning.
Finally, we ended with dessert – the good people at Secret Food Tour keep this one a secret so you’ll have to book the trip yourself to find out what it was. (That’s if Covid ever let’s us travel freely again, and if you find yourself out Singapore way).
