How I Became a Dog Called Midnight - Ben Miller

Thanks to a running parallelism with A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream, How I Became A Dog Called Midnight manages to be magical, adventurous, super fun and educational all at the same time.

Beautifully paced and with several wondrously intertwining plot lines, it is a joy to read, with ancient spells, friendships, a little romance, stolen jewels and one very large and loveable dog.

“George breathed a sigh of relief then immediately frowned. Had he really just seen a budgie swap bodies with a rabbit? And what was all this about stealing jewels? Was Clive some sort of thief?”

This book is a great choice for emerging tween readers with the short chapters and larger print size making the fully developed story line far more approachable.

Oh and fun fact, if the author’s name sounds familiar, Ben is also an acclaimed actor who has stared in the Johnny English and Paddington movies as well as the swoonworthy Netflix smash, Bridgerton.
